Arsenal summer plans taking shape as Wenger identifies in-form 21-year-old as prime target

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern want to see a few players move to the Emirates this summer…

They may well get their wish, too, with the Mirror reporting that Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar has been identified as Arsenal’s prime target for the summer – with Arsene Wenger reportedly a big fan of the 21-year-old.

Certainly, it has been difficult to ignore the progress of Lemar, with the Frenchman impressing as part of an overachieving Monaco side. Alongside key players like Bernardo Silva and Tiemoué Bakayoko, Lemar is part of a core group of Monaco stars that are seemingly drawing eyes from across Europe.

In Lemar’s case, it is easy to see where he would fit in at Arsenal. An exciting attacking midfielder, he has been in fine form this season in front of goal. He has bagged a remarkable 9 goals alongside 7 assists – highlighting his presence in the heart of the midfield.

With Mesut Ozil struggling and Alexis Sanchez continually touted with an exit, it would appear as though changes are coming at the Emirates this summer – and whilst Arsene Wenger’s future is not yet confirmed, it seems as though the Frenchman is preparing for next season already.
