One Southampton fan just slipped on his way into the Football Transfer Tavern.
But we are yet to discover whether it was because of the thundery showers in the area or because of the amount of Saints fans currently in tears.
It is probably the latter with BBC Sport confirming that yet another one of their stars has turned their back on the club.
Arsenal secured the future of 19-year old Calum Chambers yesterday in a deal worth £11 million that could rise to £16 million.
The teenager becomes Arsenal’s fourth arrival of the season having signed on a long-term contract and follows Alexis Sanchez (£30 million), Mathieu Debuchy (£12 million) and David Ospina (£3.2 million) to the Emirates Stadium.
And Chambers expressed his delight upon his arrival at the North London club.
He said: “I am so happy to be signing for Arsenal. They are a team I have much admired for their playing style, and a team who have been one of the top sides in Europe for many years.
“I’m looking forward to joining up with my new team-mates today and beginning preparation for the season ahead.”
Chambers is expected to make his Arsenal debut against Benfica on Saturday in the Emirates Cup.
Arsenal fans. £16 million is an awful lot of money for a defender so young. How confident are you that he will progress like Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain? Let us know your thoughts below.
