According to The Express, Arsene Wenger looks to activate Julian Draxler’s £37m buy-out clause as he looks to replace Mesut Ozil, who is out injured for three months.
The 20-year-old from Schalke has received a lot of praise and has been tipped as one of the most talented youngsters in world football, leaving fans of the North London club hoping he can come in and replace the struggling Ozil.
Before his current injury the club record signing was struggling in the early stages of this season, which saw critics jump on his back, forcing Wenger to publicly defend him in press conferences before his injury.
Punters in the Tavern have consistently linked the Gunners to Draxler and it seemed as though a switch was certain in the summer, but instead they bought Barcelona’s Alexis Sanchez for £30million.
But after Arsenal’s poor start to the season, which has seen them win only two of their seven Premier League games, it is believed Wenger is desperate to capture his long-term target.
If this switch were to happen, this would really put Ozil’s future at the club under pressure, because if the youngster has a major impact on the team whilst he is sidelined, Wenger will be in no rush to bring Ozil back to the first team.
