Metro have Liverpool fans looking shell-shocked here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that Luis Suarez could well take legal action to force a move away from Anfield.
The forward has been trying to engineer a transfer all summer long and it seemed that the move could finally take place after Arsenal made a £40 million and £1 offer – yet that was not enough to allow the player to speak with Arsene Wenger and the board at the Emirates Stadium.
Now after initially seeming to back down over the issue and potentially the transfer, not to mention Ian Ayre – the Liverpool managing director noting that Suarez would be a Liverpool player come September, we thought the impossible could take place and Suarez remain a red.
Now however it is thought that Suarez is willing to take legal action over a verbal agreement with the club that would allow him to leave for a club in the Champions League should the right bid come in. As we all know, Arsenal achieved a 4th place and Champions League finish last season – thus making them eligible for that agreement.
Wenger has of course placed all his eggs in the Suarez basket and is willing to push for the move to go through right until the last moments this summer.
