Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern may be about to experience a little bit of disappointment in what has otherwise been a perfect season for them with the latest news from Sky Sports.
It has been claimed that target and former player Alex Song has finally settled in Spain, and after speaking to Spanish paper AS, the player appeared to rule out a move to England.
Song of course enjoyed a successful spell under Arsene Wenger, but chose to follow Cesc Fabregas to Catalunya.
After struggling last season, actually being voted the worst summer signing, not only were Arsenal looking to lure their former star back to the Emirates Stadium, but there were even whispers of Manchester United being keen on the player.
Now however, it seems that the Camp Nou will be Song’s home for the foreseeable future.
When speaking to AS, he claimed: “In comparison to my first year, I feel much better.
“When you move to a new country and have to adapt to a new language, a new culture, it requires time.
“What I have discovered here is that we are like a big family and everyone has welcomed me with open arms.”
Despite this, Song is still far from the first name down on the team sheet at the club, and as our landlord quips, he might want to stay, but that does not mean the club do not want to sell!
Will Song see out his contract with Gerardo Martino’s side? Would you want him back at Arsenal anyway? Let us know your thoughts below.
