There is drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it has been claimed by the Daily Mail that Arsenal could well be set to land one of the most coveted Premier League players around.
It has been clear for some time that Marouane Fellani has outgrown Everton and the lack of Champions League football not to mention the departure of David Moyes has made that exit look increasingly likely in recent weeks.
After being courted by a host of clubs, including former manager Moyes’ new club, Manchester United, the Belgium international looks set to join Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger is finally making good on his promise to spend big and is considering a move for the big haired midfielder to do it.
Fellani has been attracted by not only the chance for European football but also the lure of the £100,000-a-week on the table. There is only one issue with the move – the £22 million buy out clause that with the wage packet and of course the ever present add ons, could see the deal spiral to around £50 million.
Should Wenger choose to pass on the player, there are plenty of other clubs interested and the talented midfielder is only too aware of this, with both Chelsea and Manchester United waiting in the wings.
Will Arsenal splash the cash for Fellaini this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
