There is good news for Arsenal fans here at the Football Transfer Tavern as it has been claimed that one of their summer targets could be on his way out of Marseille, well according to Metro at least.
The publication claim that Nicolas N’Koulou may be forced to leave the club due to their growing financial issues and if this is the case, Arsene Wenger is set to swoop. The centre or left back has been on the radar of Wenger for some time and as the summer approaches Wenger is thinking about rebuilding – as one punter quips its not like he has much else to think about after being knocked out of Europe.
N’Koulou is only 22 years of age, yet has a growing reputation behind him and has shown exactly what he can do for the Ligue 1 side this summer. Despite an open love for his current club, the Cameroon international is savvy enough to know he may be sold and claimed: “I want to finish the season strongly and then we will talk about my position. I love Marseille, they have been great to me. I’m happy if everyone is a winner.”
Arsenal of course are being linked to several players as the inquest over yet another season without a trophy continues and after Tottenham’s slip up against Liverpool, not to mention their marathon Inter Milan tie, Wenger will be hoping they can capitalise and move back into the top four.
