Arsenal fans in the Football transfer Tavern are handed a big boost after Metro wrote how the father of Lyon’s Nabil Fekir said that his son would only leave the French club for the Gunners.
The 21-year-old wonderkid has been impressive this season and has been linked with transfers to the biggest teams in football but his father insists he will only leave France for the Emirates Stadium.
Wenger is reportedly keen on the youngster after he has already scored six goals in 14 Ligue 1 games.
Lyon are supposedly open to offers that over the £8 million mark and a fee in this region would suit Wenger’s often tight budgets.
Fekir’s father ruled out a move to current Premier League champions Manchester City and it is clear his father wants to take cautious steps regarding his son’s future.
Mohamed Fekir said: “Nabil would like to finish first or second and play Champions League football with Lyon.
“If he leaves, it will be for Arsenal. It is the only club that can enable him to progress, with Arsene Wenger. He will not go to Manchester City to sit on the bench.”
Arsenal fans. Do you think Wenger should move to tempt Fekir to London in January or should you be focusing on defensive reinforcements? Let us know your thoughts below.
