Arsenal target set to remain at Manchester United?

rooney.jpgThere is drama for Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Star that Wayne Rooney could well be set to stay at Old Trafford this summer.

The forward’s future has been under constant speculation since he was left out of the starting eleven during the Champions League tie against Real Madrid and given David Moyes is the new gaffer at United, the speculation only intensified.

Now however after being included in posters for the new kit launch of the club it seems that the player could well be set to stay at the club for the foreseeable future despite recent links with Arsenal. Arsene Wenger recently hinted at a move for the former Everton man.

Add to this the fact that the clubs Rooney wanted to come and fight for his signature – Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid did not exactly rush to call the management at Old Trafford and signs are pointing to the player remaining for a while yet. The forward is set to snub mega money deals for the likes of Monaco and fight for his place as a forward. The 27-year-old claimed  “In years to come midfield might be where I could play but now I’m a centre-forward.

“I’ve played up front on my own a few times for United and it’s a role I’m very comfortable with.

“When you play as a target man you have to help the team out by holding the ball up and waiting for support. That comes with experience.

“It’s a good role and hopefully I can continue doing well there.”

Will Rooney yet again stay at Old Trafford after all the exit talk? Rate this rumour below.
