Arsenal are about to go into a crunch couple of games but here in the Football Transfer Tavern, right now we are bothered with the news from the IB Times, who claim that Arsene Wenger is set to miss out on a starlet from La Masia.
The Arsenal boss has long been a fan of Barcelona B striker Antonio Sanabria and we all thought that when the player chose to leave the Camp Nou, it would most likely be for the Emirates Stadium.
However, according to the publication, whilst the player is in fact ready to call time on his career at Barcelona for now, he is looking towards Serie A as his next destination, not England.
Roma are believed to be close to announcing a £2.5 million deal for the Paraguayan international, who will join them next season after deciding that opportunities would be greater and more becoming in the Italian capital than in Catalunya.
As our landlord notes over writing the specials down on our board, a host of English clubs were rumoured to be keen on the highly rated attacking player, but it was only the Gunners who were prepared to put a firm offer on the table.
One of our regulars points out that the starlet is so young that he could well move several times before inevitably ending up back at the Camp Nou, so all is not lost for Wenger yet!
Will Sanabria complete his anticipated move to Roma? Let us know your thoughts below.
