There could well be some fantastic news for Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern come the summer.
Metro claim that one of their top summer targets has opened the door to a move to the club.
As we all know, Arsene Wenger is desperate for a world class forward to help net those goals and provide some support for current man up top, Olivier Giroud, and it seems that he has found his man in Jackson Martinez.
The Porto forward has been linked with a move to North London for some time now and as our punters remind us over a pint, he has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.
The Blues are also looking for a top forward and whilst Martinez may not be one of the top three names on Jose Mourinho’s wishlist we were talking about this week, he is still an option.
The player himself spoke about the speculation over his future and claimed: “I’m happy at Porto, but it would be nice to play in another big club. I like the English league – this is well known of course.”
Martinez has been prolific for Porto, netting 37 goals in 49 matches since his big move to Europe.
As we wonder about a fight between Arsenal and Chelsea, we are reminded that he previously claimed he ‘loved’ Arsenal.
Can you really envisage Jackson Martinez becoming one of Arsenal’s big name incomings this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
