The Daily Mail have claimed that Arsenal will not land Luis Suarez this summer no matter how much money is offered to Liverpool leaving fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern shocked.
Brendan Rodgers looks set to play serious hardball over the forward’s future and even another offer from the Gunners of £35 million will not tempt the Northern Irishman to sell the star man.
Wenger has already seen Gonzalo Higuain’s fee rise rather dramatically as Real Madrid effectively changed their mind’s over the future of the player and decided to keep the Argentine.
Now it seems that Wenger is unwilling to allow another top target to slip through the net – something that is an all too familiar story for Arsenal fans these days.
The club already have the first option on buying back Cesc Fabregas yet are facing competition from Manchester United over the player’s future and will now face a bigger fight than they originally thought to land a forward.
Suarez has made his desire to leave Anfield perfectly clear and originally eyed a move abroad – yet top on the forward’s list of desires is the chance to win titles and play in the Champions League and that is something that Arsenal can offer – well the latter at least! Chelsea were thought to be interested in Suarez, yet given Mourinho claimed Wayne Rooney was their only target, it now seems Arsenal are in pole position should Rodgers’ stance change.
Will Liverpool seriously keep an unhappy player at Anfield by the time the season kicks off? Let us know your thoughts below.
