There is excitement here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Mail that Arsenal are the latest in a long line of clubs to join the race for young sensation Daniel Carr.
In recent weeks a host of top clubs have been linked with the teenager and it seems that Arsene Wenger has joined Carr’s ever growing list of admirers. Currently playing his trade for non-league Dulwich Hamlet, the striker has just finished a short trial spell at Liverpool with the Reds keen to tie him down on a permanent contract.
Not only have Liverpool offered the player a trial but Chelsea have shown more than a passing interest in the 18-year-old leading his current manager Gavin Rose to note: “Arsenal and Chelsea want him in, which is feasible for us as he would still be able to play for us. The interest from Liverpool is firm, but that is quite similar with the London clubs.”
Of course this is a crucial stage in the young player’s career and he will be conscious of going to a club that will help nurture and develop him, not just throw him onto the scrap heap like Chelsea have often been accused of doing in the past when it comes to aiding younger players progress to the first team.
