Arsenal supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are pretty happy with their summer transfer business so far and the Daily Star reckons a fifth arrival could be imminent.
Arsene Wenger has reportedly set his sights on Paris Saint-Germain’s midfield starlet Adrien Rabiot, who has previously caught the attention of both Manchester United and Chelsea.
Reports in France suggest the Gunners have opened talks over an £8 million switch for the 19-year-old, with his future at the Parc Des Princes uncertain.
Rabiot has been unhappy with first team opportunities with the French champions and turned down the offer of a new contract at the end of last season.
The Parisian club have not offered him a new deal since and would be willing to do business for the right price.
PSG are in the market for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria and having already spent £50 million on David Luiz this summer, know they need to offload some players to comply with FIFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.
That has encouraged Arsene Wenger to make a move for the talented midfielder, with reports suggesting Arsenal are the favourites to beat Manchester United and Chelsea to his signature.
If Arsenal do manage to capture Rabiot, it will cast doubt on whether the Gunners will maintain their pursuit of top transfer target – Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira.
