Arsenal supporters are looking forward to a return to domestic action this weekend as they look to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League.
The summer signing of Mesut Ozil in a club record deal appears to have set the tone for what could be a successful campaign at the Emirates Stadium.
Now discussion surrounding the Gunners has turned to where else they need to strengthen during the upcoming transfer window.
Now today’s Metro suggests that Arsene Wenger is tracking Borussia Monchengladbach ace Patrick Herrmann as he looks to make the German his next big money signing.
The Gunners boss, who is set to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium by a further two years, has already spent a large amount on German talent in recent years after the arrivals of Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski, Serge Gnabry, Thomas Eisfeld and of course Ozil in North London.
But it appears that Wenger is planning to add even more German talent to his side, with the exciting Monchengladbach star Herrmann reportedly on his wishlist ahead of the January window.
The 22-year-old, who is also attracting attention from both Barcelona and Liverpool, has emerged as one of the stars of the Bundesliga in recent years and that could see the Gunners firming up their interest in the New Year.
Wenger has told chief scout Steve Rowley to keep tabs on the player and has recommended that the Gunners move quickly for the skillful winger, who has been compared to Franck Ribery, and is valued at around £17 million.
Would this be a sound investment for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal? Let us know your thoughts below.
