talkSPORT reveal to Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern that Paris Saint-Germain have joined the race to land Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Arsene Wenger was linked with signing the Swiss international on a free transfer last week as the 30-year-old only has eight months remaining on his contract.
And the Italian giants are preparing themselves for a bidding frenzy in January because as things stand, Lichtsteiner is not interested in signing a new deal in Turin meaning the Bianconeri will have to look at cashing in on their versatile defender.
Big spenders PSG will hope to tempt him to Ligue 1 by offering him a significant pay rise with the Swiss star currently earning £1.5 million-a-year. The Parisian side are reportedly willing to double this figure.
Ourr resident Arsenal fans can only hope Wenger uses his know-how in the transfer window and is ruthless in his attempts to sign Lichtsteiner because he would provide great cover as he is capable of playing anywhere across the backline.
And with their horrific string of injuries this season, the Gunners would very much welcome defence reinforcements in January, especially a player of Lichtsteiners quality and experience.
Arsenal fans. Are you hopeful of signing Stephan Lichtsteiner or do you think you can’t compete with the likes of free-spending Paris Saint-Germain? Let us know your thoughts below.
