Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left in hot discussion after talkSPORT report that Barcelona are close to replacing departing goalkeeper Victor Valdes with Inter Milan shot stopper Samir Handanovic.
The Slovenian international has been heavily linked with a future move to Arsenal after an impressive first season in Milan as Arsene Wenger looks to bring fierce competiton to current first choice keeper Wojciech Szczesny at the Emirates Stadium.
But after Inter took up their option to complete their purchase of Handanovic with the remainder of his contract from Udinese it appears that Barcelona are now set to land the keeper next summer.
Long serving Barca ace Victor Valdes has admitted he will leave the Camp Nou at the end of next season and that has seen several quality keepers linked with the vacancy at the Spanish champions.
Liverpool’s Pepe Reina was thought to be the main contender for the Barca gloves but the 30-year-old has now fallen behind Handanovic, who originally made his name with Udinese, as they look to replace Valdes.
