Arsenal supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are eagerly awaiting news of further transfer business following their productive summer so far.
Sources at The Express claim the Gunners are ready to step up their pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazilian attacking midfield star Douglas Costa.
Arsene Wenger is said to have turned his attentions to the Brazilian after growing frustrated in his attempts to sign Juan Quintero from Porto, after being quoted a figure of £32 million for the Colombian international.
Costa – who is yet to win a senior cap with Brazil – represents a far cheaper alternative with the Gunners looking to complete a loan signing with the option of a permanent move from the Donbass Arena.
The attacker is unhappy with returning to Shakhtar due to the volatile state of Ukraine at present and is eager to engineer a move as quickly as possible.
Costa has been an integral part of the Shakhtar side that has won five successive titles in Ukraine although a deal could prove complicated as he still has four years left to run on his contract.
Arsene Wenger is surprisingly eager to bring in another attacking midfielder before the start of the season and believes Costa could provide consolation for missing out on Colombian prodigy Quintero.
