The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern think that their side needs something extra for the second-half of the season…
After an impressive start to the campaign, Arsenal have petered out slightly as the season has progressed – with the Gunners currently sat in 4th place in the Premier League.
The table is deceiving, though, and with just 9 points separating the Gunners from top spot – anything can change over the course of the next few weeks.
If the gap between Wenger’s side and Chelsea has shown anything to the Arsenal fans in the Tavern, though, it is that a lot of work needs to be done if Arsenal are going to challenge long-term; and in that vein, they think that a number of new players are needed this month.
An over-reliance on a number of key players alongside a lack of depth means that Arsenal could struggle as the season progresses, and Arsene Wenger is seemingly in agreement.
According to the Express, Arsenal have joined the race for Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, who has been attracting the interest of both Man City and Chelsea in recent weeks.
Whilst never a standout talent when playing for Stoke, N’Zonzi has found a new lease on life in La Liga, and has been seriously impressive this season. He has been a near constant for Sevilla this year, and has made the heart of the Spanish side’s midfield his own.
The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are slightly cautious about the deal, given that the Frenchman was rarely a standout figure in the Premier League, though the fact that the Gunners are reportedly rivalling the likes of Chelsea and Man City is making them slightly more optimistic.
