The name Abel Hernández may or may not ring a few bells, but after refusing to rule out a move from current club Palermo to Arsenal, this transfer rumour has suddenly gained more weight than Gazza after a KFC and lager picnic with Raoul Moat.
Speaking to Eurosport, Hernández said:
“Right now I am thinking about Palermo,”
“Afterwards we’ll see if there is the chance to go to a stronger team.
“My first experience of Italy was during a trial with Genoa.
“They didn’t keep hold of me because of my heart problems while Palermo believed in me and had me operated on.”
The 20-year old striker has enjoyed his start to the new season, with three goals in just two appearances for Palermo and a 40% overall strike rate if last season is added to the equation.
Arsenal may not be the strong title contenders they once were, but the chances of frequent Champions League football will ultimately prove too good to resist. In time though, his short term interests remain firmly lodged in Serie A with perennial darker than dark horses Palermo.
Come on Hernández, you look daft in that pink kit…
