Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening are feeling a little reassured after the Daily Mail revealed that Arsene Wenger’s is showing signs of intent heading into the January transfer window.
Reportedly, the under-fire Frenchman has sent out a scout to monitor Monaco’s first choice left back Layvin Kurzawa.
The 22-year-old French international is rated at £15 million by the Principality club and it seems as though Wenger is in hot pursuit after sending out his top scout Gilles Grimandi to have a closer look at the full back.
It is reported elsewhere that Grimandi scouted him back in November in Monaco’s 1-1 clash away to St Etienne.
Arsenal face stiff competition for Kurzawa’s signature however with Premier League rivals Manchester City and also German champions Bayern Munich also interested.
It will take something special to beat the likes of Bayern and City in the transfer window but Wenger will hope that his track record of developing youngsters will prove meaningful to Kurzawa.
The Gunners are desperate for defensive reinforcements and their deficiencies at the back were exposed once again at the weekend after being terrorised once again away to Stoke City where they conceded three goals in the first half.
