There is drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Daily Mail claim that Arsene Wenger has been told he can make a new £40 million bid for Liverpool star Luis Suarez.
The Uruguayan forward has long been looking to leave Liverpool and despite the club standing by the forward through his long list of misdemeanours, Suarez has acted in typical fashion and demanded a transfer, blaming everything he can think of including the British media.
Despite his obvious distaste for life in England, Arsene Wenger has placed him at the top of his transfer list after seeing the asking price of Gonzalo Higuain rise rather sharply and also seeing Stevan Jovetic opt for Manchester City.
Having already seen two bids rejected for the former Ajax forward, the Arsenal board have told Wenger that he can make a third mega bid and test the resolve of Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers once again.
If the Spanish press are to be believed, Real Madrid are also weighing up their options and considering making a bid for Suarez – and should Florentino Perez give this the all clear, the future of Gonzalo Higuain would again be in question, leading Arsenal to potentially reignite their interest in the Argentine once more.
Will Arsenal table a £40 million bid for Suarez or will they keep their purse strings tight? Let us know your thoughts below.
