The Football Transfer Tavern was full of Arsenal supporters earlier who were on their way to the Emirates Stadium for their side’s clash with Norwich City.
The Gunners fans were left excited by fresh speculation about a possible January transfer target for Arsene Wenger.
These latest reports come from Sports Direct News who suggest that Karim Benzema will be the subject of a £38 million offer from Arsenal during the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old striker has struggled for form with the La Liga giants of late with just two goals in the league and that has brought about speculation in the tavern that newly appointed Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was looking at other options to fire his team to possible success this season.
This could see the French international, who was the subject of negative chants in recent weeks from the Madrid faithful, departing the club for pastures new with Wenger reportedly eyeing up the clinical frontman to help strengthen his attack.
A report in French daily Le10 Sport now claims that football agent Francois Gallardo admitted an “important” Premier League club, thought to be Arsenal, will attempt to recruit him and that an offer of between £38 million and £43 million will be enough to see Benzema arriving at the Emirates Stadium.
“[The club] wants the transfer to happen this winter but if this is not possible, then next summer at the latest,” he is quoted as saying.
“The offer will be around 45 to 50 million euros (£38 to £43 million).”
Real are known to be tracking Liverpool striker Luis Suarez with a view to a January move while Monaco forward Radamel Falcao has emerged a shock target and the Gunners know that in order to be successful in their pursuit for the Frenchman, they need Madrid to find a suitable replacement first.
