Metro have a rather interesting claim for Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they note that the Gunners are considering a move for a £25 million rated star.
Arsene Wenger’s side have been linked with a host of players in the past few months and as one of our punters notes over his beer and a burger special, they have had a rather large shift in mentality since the arrival of Mesut Ozil – and that it certainly not a bad thing.
Manager Arsene Wenger has been on the hunt for some more top players who can help his side improve and become the title winners he wants them to be and now it seems that Benfica forward Rodrigo could well be one of those.
Benfica are facing up to a financial crisis and selling their prized assets could well be the way forward for the Portuguese giants. Nemanja Matic has already completed a £21 million return to Chelsea this winter.
Arsenal are not the only club who are keen on Rodrigo – a former Bolton Wanderers loanee – however and will face some rather tough competition from Zenit St Petersburg to land him.
They are also considering other players with Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata one of the biggest targets and one that is certainly not out of the question, with Carlo Ancelotti carefully considering allowing the player out on loan.
Could Rodrigo end up at the Emirates Stadium by the end of January? Let us know your thoughts below.
