Arsenal & Tottenham offered renewed hope in transfer chase

Mario BalotelliHere in the Football Transfer Tavern we’ve been closely following the progress of Mario Balotelli in Italy amid speculation over a potential return to England.

Now today’s copy of The Express suggests that AC Milan are ready to cut their losses with the Italian international with Tottenham and Arsenal ready to pounce.

The news comes after Balotelli clashed with local journalists again after he was criticised for his display during Milan’s 2-0 defeat to Roma.

Sky Sports Italia pundit Giancarlo Marocchi said Mario wasn’t a top player due to his movement off the ball.

Balotelli responded: “You don’t understand anything about football. Trust me, you really don’t.

“It isn’t nice? I don’t care. I don’t care.

“I never said I’m a top player. I am a perfectly normal player, it will take time to become world class, but the reasons why I am not a top player are not the same reasons you think.

“Every game is different. If I didn’t get near the goal once tonight, then there has to be a reason.

“You always talk about me. When Milan win Mario’s great, when Milan lose it’s all Mario’s fault. You expect me to score five goals a game. I don’t need your criticism, I make my own criticism.”

The 23-year-old might think that a move back to the Premier League would be beneficial for his future and with Arsenal and Spurs both reportedly interested, it could happen in the summer.

Arsenal’s new shirt sponsorship with Puma could make them favourites to land the former Manchester City striker, who is also an ambassador of the German sports brand.

We would love to see Mario back in the Premier, mainly for the entertainment value, but what do you think will happen? Let us know your thoughts below.
