There is slight confusion here in the Football Transfer Tavern after the Daily Telegraph claimed that David Villa is happy atcurrent club Barcelona.
The forward has been linked with a move away from the Catlan giants for some time and now we had thought that it was a straight race between North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham for the striker’s signature.
Now it seems that Villa himself has had something to say about the speculation surrounding his future and it is certainly a slight contradiction from what we have been told previously. He claimed: “I always try to think of the present. I will go to the Confederations Cup and try to play a good role there.
“We’ll need to analyse many things during the summer and then we’ll see. Right now I’m not thinking about anything else than playing football.”
“I have a contract with Barcelona and I’ve always said that I’m very happy here.”
Of course one of the main issues for Villa has been the lack of playing time he has been given at the club and that does not look set to change anytime soon following the arrival of Neymar.
Add this to the fact that both his suitors in the Premier League are crying out for a forward and it certainly means his situation is one to watch. For a player who scores when ever he is given the chance, as one of our punters quips, it would be a shame not to see him in the Premier League and given the chance he deserves.
