Fans of Arsenal and Tottenham are reigniting their rivalry once again inside the Football Transfer Tavern, after Charles Perrin of the Daily Express stopped by to inform us that he reckons the first move has been made in a bid to secure the signing of Matej Vydra from Udinese.
The Italian club have claimed they have rejected an £8 million bid for the forward from an unnamed Premier League club, although it is understood that the North London rivals have both expressed an interest previously in the player.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Watford in the Championship, where he proved a major hit. He managed an impressive total of 22 goals in the Championship last season, which helped Gianfranco Zola’s men reach the Play-Off Final where they were ultimatley beaten to promotion by Crystal Palace.
His form grabbed the attention of both Arsenal and Tottenham, with it also being understood that two London clubs have registered an interest in the Czech Republic international, although Udinese have rejected bids from both also.
Vydra has two years left to run on his current contract, and it remains to be seen whether an improved offer will be accepted, or whether the Italian club are keen to hold on to their man having enjoyed such an impressive campaign with Watford.
