There are more than a few disappointed faces here in the Football Transfer Tavern after it is claimed by the Daily Express that Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain is leaning towards a move to Juventus, meaning that both Arsenal and Tottenham are set to miss out on the Argentine forward.
Higuain has been nothing if not frustrating for Real Madrid fans to watch this season and given that he gets caught offside more times than Filippo Inzaghi used to, it seems that Los Blancos have finally had enough of the former River Plate striker.
Andre Villas-Boas and Spurs have long been admirers of the forward and had been thought to be preparing a summer bid for the player – and would certainly ask for him as part exchange in any potential Gareth Bale deal. Now however this transfer eems off the cards, as does the potential for a move to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium also.
Juventus have chased Higuain hard and are looking to build on the success they have had domestically in the last couple of seasons by showing what they can do on the European stage and feel that the Argentine forward is the man to help them do that.
