Newcastle United fans are looking pleased here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as the Daily Mail claim that the Magpies are finally getting tired of the saga surrounding one of their star players Yohan Cabaye.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks, with Arsene Wenger already making a bid for the player that was rejected by Newcastle.
The Gunners are thought to be preparing another bid before the close of the transfer window and Pardew is prepared for that to happen.
Arsenal are of course not the only team linked with a move for Cabaye and Manchester United are also thought to be keen on the midfielder while French side Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed an interest in the past.
When asked about the future of the player, Pardew claimed: “I don’t know until 11pm [on Monday].
“We have told his agent, “Look, come on, play the game”, because we have got to replace him [if we sell him] and we can’t afford to replace him before he goes because we’re not sure he is going to go.
“That bid needs to come in, if it’s coming in, early. If not, it won’t happen – well, I think it won’t happen, but you can never tell with this football club.”
Pardew also spoke about the potential new signings for the club and claimed that should the French international leave St. James’ Park, he will be able to bring someone in – but has to be on his toes to do so.
The manager claimed: “We have got replacements in mind, but we need to act quickly if that bid comes in.
“We still hope to get an offensive player in before 11pm [on Monday] and we are working towards that.”
As one of our punters quips, it is pretty clear who Pardew is talking about, with the Magpies linked with a loan swoop for Chelsea player Demba Ba before the transfer window slams shut.
