Arsenal turn to French international as midfield solution

Morgan SchneiderlinArsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern may get a glimpse of a future Gunners player if they tune in to the France game tonight.

That’s because the The Mirror are reporting that Arsene Wenger is set to target Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin this summer.

The Gunners manager, who is currently working as a pundit for French TV, has reportedly been keeping an eye on the 24-year old for some time.

The 24-year old is rated at £20 million which somewhat baffles the tavern regulars but Southampton players seem to be sold at a premium.

Wenger has been looking to add some midfield steel to his ranks all summer having tried and failed to lure Sami Khedira from Real Madrid.

He was also linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender and Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez but it seems Schneiderlin is the latest option for the Arsenal gaffer.

But Southampton will be reluctant and in no rush to sell having already raised £80 million this summer from the sales of Luke Shaw, Rickie Lambert and the impending departure of Adam Lallana.

Arsenal fans. It looks like Wenger is struggling to find that extra bit of quality in midfield. Should he have swallowed his pride and re-signed Cesc Fabregas when he has the chance? Let us know your thoughts below.
