talkSPORT have some interesting reports for both Arsenal and Liverpool supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
The publication today suggests that Arsenal are planning a surprise move for Liverpool defender Glen Johnson in the summer.
The England right back is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the current season and speculation is mounting that he could be set for a switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Boss Arsene Wenger is looking for a new right back with Bacary Sagna set to depart for pastures new and Johnson appears to be on his radar.
The Reds are reportedly eager to reduce their wage bill and that could see Johnson allowed to join their Premier League rivals with youngster Jon Flanagan seen as an ideal replacement.
The former West Ham United, Chelsea and Portsmouth defender is regarded very highly by Wenger and Arsenal scouts who believe that the 29-year-old could be a bargain summer signing.
Johnson is currently struggling with injury and that makes some Gunners in the bar concerned about his fitness. It’s a rumour we’ll be keeping a close eye on as the summer approaches.
