Arsenal are yet to make a bid for Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez this summer, according to a report by Marca.
The Spanish media outlet claims the La Liga giants are holding out for an offer of around €40million (£36m).
Zinedine Zidane is thought to be happy to keep the 28-year-old at the Santiago Bernabeu and in his first-team next season, however, others at Real Madrid are of the opinion that it is time to try and cash in on the winger.
AS claimed Arsenal had tabled a bid of around €35m (£31.5m), with the Spaniards looking to move on a player they deem surplus to requirements following the arrival of Eden Hazard.
It is not the first time the Gunners and Unai Emery have been linked with a move for Vazquez, as OKDIARIO claimed last summer he was a person of interest.
Vazquez would certainly be a player that would help to improve the Gunners if they were able to get a deal done for him, although their alleged financial restrictions could make a move difficult, as the Daily Mail claim Arsenal’s transfer budget is thought to stand at just £45m.
The 28-year-old is hugely experienced and has a winning-mentality instilled in him after winning three Champions League titles and a La Liga trophy in his time with Los Blancos (Transfermarkt).
Vazquez also has the potential to solve an area of the field that has caused Emery and Arsenal trouble at times last season and might also be considered an upgrade to Alex Iwobi.
Looking at the Spain international’s traits, WhoScored describe him as someone who is very strong when it comes to his passing ability as his key passes are ranked highly, whilst he is also considered relatively strong when it comes to holding the ball, dribbling, taking free-kicks and providing his team-mates with defensive protection.
His own personal figures are also rather encouraging as WhoScored show that Vazquez managed 0.8 shots per 90 minutes and was able to complete 84.1% of his passes (with one key pass per game). Iwobi managed one shot per match with 1.1 key passes, however, his overall percentage was at just 77.8.%.
