Arsenal veteran set for Man City move, will help land top-target

ArtetaArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are preparing to see a cult hero move to a direct rival and are stunned to see he could be decisive in a major signing.

The Daily Mirror state former Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta is close to sealing a move to Manchester City, where he’ll begin his coaching career under Pep Guardiola, and his first task is set to be persuading a top talent to jump ship.

John Stones remains a prime target for Guardiola, who wants to bolster his ranks with the young England international, and Arteta could be enlisted to persuade the youngster to leave Everton– which is one of the Spaniard’s former clubs.

Having hung-up his playing boots, Arteta will begin a new venture as a coach and is said to have rejected offers from Arsenal and Tottenham in order to move to City, where he’ll unite with compatriot Guardiola.
