It may have been all about Chelsea and Tottenham on Super Sunday (oh and Luis Suarez!) but here at the Football Transfer Tavern we seem to be talking about Arsenal today and the claim from the Daily Express does not change this.
The reason we seem to spend so much time discussing the North London club as one punter quite rightly points out is because the club are looking to rebuild their squad in a major way this summer and after winning no trophies in the last eight seasons with the Gunners fighting tooth and nail for a place in the top four, it is certainly time for a change and that involves splashing the cash.
The latest target of Arsene Wenger seems to be German international Julian Draxler who has been lighting up the Schalke side and has attracted more than a lingering glance from Real Madrid amongst other giants in football.
Now the French manager has instructed his board to get the £15 million rated teenager even if it means that they will have to pay slightly over the odds for the 19-year-old. After being more than a little bit cautious with his targets in the past, Wenger has seen players opt for other clubs and now is determined this summer that will not happen to him or his side.
