The Daily Mail are reporting that the Gunners could be about to launch a surprise bid for Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
The Spaniard is currently on international duty as Spain prepare for the World Cup in Brazil but Wenger has targeted him as the perfect competition for Wojciech Szczesny.
The Polish stopper is the only first team keeper left at the club after Swansea City lured Lukasz Fabianski to the Liberty Stadium and Emiliano Viviano returned to Palermo.
Casillas was frequently rotated in the Real Madrid first team last season and was forced to share the role with Diego Lopez.
The 33-year-old still has three years left on his contract with the Spanish giants but his wage decrease year on year as part of the deal.
And Arsene Wenger will be hoping that former Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil and Spanish compatriot Santi Cazorla could lure him to North London.
Arsenal fans. Should Arsene Wenger stick with Wojciech Szczesny as his number one or is signing Iker Casillas too good an opportunity to miss. Let us know your thoughts below.
