Arsenal want Superleague Greece star as Vermaelen replacement

4419447Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are discussing who they want in their defence next season.

The Gunners have already lost Bacary Sagna to Manchester City and now look set to lose Thomas Vermaelen so it is an area that certainly needs investing in.

And according to Metro, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has highlighted Olympiakos’ Greek international defender Kostas Manolas as the man to boost his defensive ranks.

Wenger is thought to be readying a £10 million bid to secure Manolas’ services this summer.

The 6 ft 1 in defender has enjoyed a superb season with the Greek champions and earned plenty of plaudits during the World Cup for his dominant performances.

He is rated at about £8 million by the Athens giants but Italian side Juventus are also interested so Arsenal may need to bid higher than the Old Lady to secure their man.
