Sky Sports report that Arsenal are lining up a swoop for highly-rated Sevilla star Geoffrey Kondogbia.
Arsene Wenger has been eyeing a move for the 20-year-old midfielder who caught the eye in La Liga last term with performances beyond his years and the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea are reportedly watching him with a view to a possible future transfer also.
However Real are now understood to be chasing Real Sociedad’s midfield enforcer Asier Illarramendi instead of Kondogbia and that could see Wenger making a move for the defensive minded Frenchman.
The youngster only moved to Sevilla from Lens at the start of last season but has already gained a reputation as one of the finest young midfielders around and given the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan-based club’s financial state, Kondogbia could be available for a fee as low as £8 million.
Sevilla will struggle to keep hold of their top stars this summer after missing out on qualification for European football next season and that could see Kondogbia making the switch to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Arsenal haven’t truly replaced Alex Song so should they do this by signing Kondogbia this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
