Arsenal won’t be signing another striker this summer

Wenger seems to have gotten over his fear of spendingArsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking rather unimpressed as we tell them about the latest claim coming from Metro.

The publication seems to think that the Gunners will not be bringing in another forward ahead of next season and we are not sure that is the wisest of moves from Arsene Wenger.

As one of our punters notes over a pint, we would be trying to get a world class striker in and had thought a move for AC Milan’s Mario Balotelli was of the cards.

Despite this, Wenger claimed: “Up front we don’t need any more, maybe I will still bring in one centre-back. I will bring in a goalkeeper for sure and we are still out there to strengthen our squad.

“You do the deals when it’s possible, this time we could do it early and I am very happy with what I have done until now. It’s easier to prepare, but we are not the only club who have done business.

“Some other clubs have also done business – Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have bought great players and the competition should be interesting again next season.”

One of our Gunners supporting punters points out that recent acquisition from Barcelona Alexis Sanchez can play as a number nine, not to mention World Cup winner Lukas Podolski.
