Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are pleased to hear via talkSPORT that Arsene Wenger is closing in on more defensive reinforcements as he considers signing Empoli’s standout performer Daniele Rugani.
Wenger is reportedly keeping tabs on the Italian whilst he is on the verge of landing Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista having previously signed Krystian Bielik earlier during this transfer window.
The Gunners’ new recruits this month will bring defensive discipline to Arsenal’s side with the North Londoners often criticised in the past for being too attack minded.
But the latest player they are linked with in Rugani is 20-years-of-age and following some strong performances for Empoli in Serie A, he is has also picked up interest form Real Madrid.
He is currently co-owned by Empoli and Juventus and has played at all youth levels for Italy. Also called up to Antonio Conte’s senior squad in November, this feat displays just how much potential Rugani has as a future world class enforcer.
Arsenal fans. Would you prefer Wenger looked to land another defensive midfielder rather than a defender in the hours that remain in the transfer window? Let us know your thoughts below.
