The Daily Mail have certainly interested the Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern today by claiming that the Gunners are not going to stop at just one high profile addition this summer.
The club are set to finalise the deal for Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain and are just tying up the lose ends for the player after seeing the Real Madrid forward agree to become their highest paid player on wages of £150,000 per week and are now considering moves for a host of other top players.
Clearly when Arsene Wenger claimed that he would finally be joining the big spenders in the Premier League, he was being serious.
Higuain has netted 117 times for Real Madrid since his move from River Plate and is a top goalscorer – and a proven one at the very highest level. The only thing that is keeping the £22 million move from being completed is the lack of a coach at Real Madrid, yet with Paris Saint-Germain’s Carlo Ancelotti manager elect, the Italian blocking the transfer for Pipita seems increasingly unlikely.
The Emirates Stadium-based club are again being linked with a move for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney who is of couse still being dogged by those ever present rumours of a move from Old Trafford and the Gunners are also considering swoops for various defenders and goalkeepers this summer.
If Arsenal land Higuain, who will they follow this signing up with? Let us know your thoughts below.
