Arsenal are hoping to fire themselves back into the Champions League places next season following last years disappointment of missing out on the top four.
With Arsene Wenger’s immediate future sorted and the Gunners splashing big money on Alexandre Lacazette, the Arsenal fans here in the Tavern are actually pretty motivated going into the new campaign, with many thinking they can challenge at the top.
Obviously, key to this is keeping hold of Alexis Sanchez, which is something which remains to be seen, and also, adding more new faces to what is already a talented squad.
Our landlord has been keeping a close eye on international proceedings this summer, and one player he thinks can do an excellent job for the Gunners is Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Julian Brandt.
The 21-year-old German winger looks to be a real talent, and has demonstrated his ability across all ages for his national team, earning 10 caps so far for the World Cup winners.
Brandt appears to have all the hallmarks of a classic winger, with electric pace and the ability to get in behind and support the strikers by getting his name on the score-sheet.
Arsenal have plenty of creative midfield players who are good with the ball at their feet, but an actual out an out winger like Brandt eludes them, and he would be an excellent signing if Arsene Wenger did fancy making a move for him.
He will no doubt go on to become a regular for Germany, and Arsenal might well be wise to swoop now before next years World Cup in Russia, where his value will be in danger of sky rocketing.
Gunners fans, what do you think to this? Good signing? Let us know!
