Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are disappointed to see that their progression towards a quality signing may not be as advanced as they thought, following comments that they’ve read today.
The Daily Express, citing quotes from German publication Kicker, reveal that Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has stated Arsenal are yet to submit a formal offer for the services of midfielder Granit Xhaka.
23-year-0ld Swiss international Xhaka has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal looking to rejuvenate their midfield line with his addition, and it’s previously been suggested the Gunners were in advanced talks for a deal.
“There is no official offer. But Granit Xhaka is an issue. It’s clear he has generated interest at other clubs. We have to wait and see what happens.”
Developments are likely to occur in the coming weeks, with the Bundesliga and Premier League season concluding over the weekend, and Arsenal are desperate to complete a deal before Xhaka jets off to Euro 2016 with Switzerland.
Arsenal fans, do you expect to conclude Xhaka’s signing before the tournament in France kicks off? Let us know in the comments below!
