After making his senior international debut with Nigeria earlier this month, Alex Iwobi went viral after scoring a stunning goal in an U19 clash with Bayern Munich this week, as part of a brace against the Bavarians.
Quoted in Metro speaking about his two-goal haul, 19-year-old Iwobi heaped pressure on Thierry Henry’s coaching talents and told how the Gunners legend was behind his stunning goal.
‘I owe that to him [Henry]. He told me before the game that most wingers get their goals at the back post so I tried to take his advice on board. Other coaches I have had have all played football but no disrespect to them; I have never had anyone like Thierry.’
‘He’s like one of us. He just jokes around. But when we have to be serious he’s very serious. He is teaching us what to do. He may criticise us a few times but that’s just for us to get better.’
The Arsenal punters at the bar are always keen to reminisce about Henry’s spectacular contributions to the North London side’s proud history but are ecstatic to see the Frenchman help to develop new stars for the Gunners.
