Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing the possibility of losing some big names this summer, with reports suggesting a wealth of exits continuing emerging in the press.
The latest report comes from the continent, with French outlet FranceFootball stating Marseille are looking to raid the Premier League following their cash injection and could spend as much as €200m this summer to compete with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.
Having lured Dimitri Payet back to the South Coast of France during the January window, Marseille are looking to swoop again in the close-season and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is a target they’ve set their sights on.
Giroud, who won Ligue 1 with Montpellier before moving to the Premier League, has found his position in Arsenal’s first-team under threat, with Alexis Sanchez excelling in a forward role this season and the likes of Danny Welbeck pushing for further opportunities.
With Arsenal also reportedly eyeing recruits to bolster their forward ranks this summer, our landlord believes Giroud’s position in the squad could become intangible and he believes a return to Marseille would be good for the French striker.
Giroud is reportedly earning £100k-a-week at Arsenal, and could potentially see his wages increased if he jumped ship to join Marseille.
Should Arsenal allow Giroud to leave this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
