£16.2m-rated defensive midfielder could be final piece in the jigsaw for Arsenal

For years the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been desperately moaning to sign a quality defensive midfielder and having still unsuccessfully done that, this summer could be the perfect time to invest in a talented player who could escalate their game to the next level at the Emirates.

With the news of Arsene Wenger stepping down, many Gunners have been thinking of what the future holds for their team having been managed by the Frenchman for the past 22 seasons. Has Wenger been holding them back for years or are Arsenal about to get a taste of “be careful what you wish for?”

Either way, Arsenal need new recruitments this summer and one of those our punters believe should be Leicester’s Wilfried Ndidi, who is valued at £16.20 million on Transfermarkt. Ndidi has been one of the Foxes’ standout performers this season, making 37 appearances thus far. The Nigerian international is a tough tackler but his energy up and down the pitch is what stands out the most, making him one of the most promising defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

Granit Xhaka continues to play alongside Mohamed Elneny as a defensive partnership in midfield but for Arsenal, they want more and in their bid to return to the top four in the league, Ndidi is a young midfielder who could endure the best years of his career with the Gunners.

Landlord’s Verdict:

We believe that Wilfried Ndidi has been one of the unsung heroes this season. The 21-year-old gets on with his job of breaking up play, spreading the ball around and even testing goalkeepers from long-range with ease and given he’s so young, Arsenal would be very smart to think of him as the future of their midfield.
