Speculation is hotting up around a move for Bordeaux midfielder Yoann Gourcuff, after it was believed that Manchester City scouts were in attendance for the French clubs 2-1 defeat at home to Toulouse this weekend.
Despite enduring some what of a difficult summer in South Africa with his national side, Gourcuff has been on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs in recent times, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and City rivals Manchester United all tracking the 24 year old.
Although speculation around a move to a top four Premier League club has lessened in the last few months, it is believed City are ready to swoop in and make yet another big money move as they look to mount a title challenge this campaign.
City manager Roberto Mancini has already significantly strengthened his squad with season, bringing in a number of world class performers such as Yaya Toure, David Silva and the newest signing, Italian wonderkid Mario Balotelli from Inter Milan for a fee which is believed to be in the region of £24 million.
If the City hierarchy were to make a substantial offer for the French international, with the number of quality players already in the centre of midfield at Eastlands, Gourcuff may find it difficult to hold down a regular starting place which could make the former Rennes man hesitant to join the club.
However, with the vast funds available to Mancini and the club seriously sky rocketing their way up the footballing ladder, as they go in search of some considerable silverware this season, Manchester City is a very attractive proposition for any player who is looking to help the Blues attempt reach the summit of world football in the not too distant future.
