The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely delighted about the signing of Alexandre Lacazette, though do wish the club would make more moves in the market.
Indeed, after such a miserable campaign last time out, our resident Gooners were hoping to see much more of an overhaul this summer, though not too much has changed at the Emirates.
So, reports from the Daily Mail have proven rather divisive. They claim England international Jack Wilshere is eager to stay at the club and fight for his place under Arsene Wenger, despite suggestions he could leave north London.
With the likes of Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny also available in central midfield berths, the 25-year-old has been mooted as a potential target for the likes of Crystal Palace and Swansea City.
Still, according to this report, Wilshere is not willing to give up on his career at Arsenal without a fight. He’s not thought to be rushing into any decision in regards to his future and will reportedly use the time between now and the end of his contract to try and impress Wenger.
A popular figure amongst our local Gunners, they aren’t quite sure how to take this news. Constantly blighted by injury,
IF – and it’s a big if – Arsenal can get Wilshere playing well and without injury, they have quite the player on their hands. For him, it really is make or break this season and the fact he seemingly wants to stick around is promising.
One more year to prove himself.
