It’s been a busy few days for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern, who’ve watched their side win the FA Cup AND extend Arsene Wenger’s contract by another two years.
While debate over the Frenchman is only ever likely to rage on – with many of our resident Gooners in disagreement – there has been a positive transfer line emanating out of the Sun.
According to their report, star midfielder Mesut Ozil is ready to extend his contract in north London at long last. Much has been made about the German’s future in recent months, as he enters the final year on his deal, though it seems an agreement is close to being reached.
The World Cup winner is understood to have wanted a stunning £350k-p/w to extend his stay at the Emirates, though is said to be ready to agree to a £280k-p/w contract. Ozil is not thought to have any serious offer from a top European club, after a mixed season for Arsenal.
Still, such is his standing as a truly world class player when on top form, the news has our local Arsenal fans in a great mood. Though the No.10 may struggle at times, few would really doubt Ozil’s ability in the final third.
With Ozil in the side and on song, Arsenal are undoubtedly better.
