Things are good for the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern right now after what looked like being another very frustrating summer indeed.
After Arsene Wenger finally opted to splash the cash later on in the transfer window, the Gunners have so far been able to keep up with the Premier League pace-setters following a strong start to the campaign.
Still, the North London locals have been concerned following comments made by midfield lynchpin Santi Cazorla to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.
The 31-year-old is one of the most popular figures at the Emirates, though is closing in on the final six months of his deal in North London.
While he remains a big part of Arsene Wenger’s plans right now, the two-time European Championship winner has revealed he is yet to receive a new deal with the club.
That being said, the former Malaga man remains hopeful of extending his four-year stay with the Gunners beyond this summer, much to the delight of the Arsenal fans propping up the bar.
‘No, I don’t have any news from the club [regarding a new contract],’ he told the outlet (with quotes sourced by the Daily Mail).
‘My focus now is on playing and to be able to enjoy playing football following a season when I had lots of [injury] problems.’
‘I hope I can stay here and continue to play. I am happy here. What a player wants is to play and to feel important,’ he said.
‘Fortunately, since I arrived at Arsenal, I’ve had the confidence of the coach and of my team.’
