It’s been a mixed start to the season for Arsenal fans with arguably their finest moment so far coming in last nights’ Champions League clash against Galatasaray.
Whilst the Turkish side were desperately poor, three points and four goals from summer signings are exactly what Arsene Wenger needed to take the pressure off after starting the season as the Premier League’s draw specialists.
The hat-trick for Danny Welbeck will be particularly pleasing, with many questioning the sense in signing the 23-year-old from Manchester United on transfer deadline day.
But Welbeck has made a bright start to his Arsenal career with four goals in his first six matches and what could have been more had he taken the other presentable chances that have come his way.
With the Manchester-born forward being just 23-years-of-age, there is now a feeling Wenger produced a moment of genius in the market – given the fact Welbeck has shown an improvement in his goal scoring already being played in his preferred position of central striker.
It is something of a throwback to the past, where Wenger had the ability to complete a top class signing from nothing.
Whilst that has not been the case as often in recent years, January will be a time to prove to Arsenal fans he still has what it takes in the transfer market.
